Freyja Kristinsdóttir’s short documentary Postcards had its world premiere at the Reykjavík Film Festival and received two Icelandic Academy EDDA Awards, for Discovery of the Year and Best Short Documentary. Her debut film, Rjómi (English: Underdog, 2018), premiered at Skjaldborg Film Festival, received a Jury’s Special Mention, and was later broadcast on RÚV. She also co-taught a documentary filmmaking course with Yrsa Roca Fannberg at the University of Iceland (2021–2022). Following her debut, Freyja worked as a script supervisor, assistant editor, and DIT on projects including Summerlight and Then Comes the Night (2022), Descendants (2023), and Felix & Klara (2024/2025). She has collaborated extensively with Heather Millard, most recently producing the acclaimed 2023 documentary The Home Game, which has won multiple international festival awards. Freyja is associate producer on the documentary Time & Water, directed by Oscar-nominated Sara Dosa, which had world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and international premiere at 2026 CPH:DOX.
