Kai Tan is a Malaysian-born, Australian-raised, New Orleans–based queer Asian filmmaker, actor, writer, and producer. After three decades in corporate roles across merchant banking to marketing, he transitioned into film, bringing a grounded yet expansive voice shaped by global experience and deep spiritual inner work. He is also trained in documentary filmmaking, which informs his nuanced storytelling approach. His work blends the personal with broader social themes, weaving the real and supernatural through a multicultural, allegorical lens. His work reflects a commitment to symbolically rich narratives that confront trauma and challenge stereotypes.
