Pierre Drouot is a Belgian film producer, director, and screenwriter known for his significant contributions to Belgian cinema. Born in Oudenaarde, he grew up in a bilingual household, with a Francophone father and a Dutch-speaking mother, experiencing life in various Belgian cities, including Ghent and Bastogne. Drouot began his career in the 1960s, co-directing films such as Cash? Cash! (1967) and L'Étreinte (1969) with Paul Collet. The latter, an erotic film with feminist undertones, garnered attention in Belgium at the time. Transitioning to production, Drouot played a pivotal role in the Belgian film industry, serving as the director of the Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF), where he supported numerous Belgian filmmakers and projects. His dedication to fostering local talent and promoting Belgian cinema has left a lasting impact on the industry.
